On January 1, 2003, the Normandy Park City Council sold/transferred (at no cost to either party) its sewer utility (i.e. service area, pipes, and easements) to the Southwest Suburban Sewer District (SWSSD). With that transfer, (most) Normandy Park sewer customers, who used to elect the Normandy Park City Council as their "sewer commissioners," were left without a say in how their sewer services were priced, maintained and/or augmented.
Citizens for Annexation of Normandy Park Sewers (CANPS) wishes to rectify this situation by allowing the voters of Normandy Park to vote to be annexed into Southwest Suburban Sewer District. On this site, you can see the current status of the campaign, description, a list of Pros and Cons for the proposal, the actual Petition Language, lists of Frequently Asked Questions as well as supporters.
The final step will (hopefully) be when the voter of the affected area of Normandy Park approve the annexation in the November 2, 2004 General Election. PLEASE vote FOR the annexation.
